Writers and narrative designers, we need you.

This is a remote freelance writing and narrative designer contract for a title we intend to publish in late 2023.

We need you to help flesh out the characters, oversee the plot and write deep yet minimalistic dialog. We have a delightful environment, charming base characters and a rough plot which is ready for you to take over.

This is a remote job, but if can make your way to Queensland, Australia you'd be very welcome to join us at the office in the Gold Coast.

Why you are needed

The story is brief. On a scale of 1 to 10 for story brevity, if Mario is a 1, we're looking for a 3. We'd still like it to be an interesting story with character development, a surprise and something meaningful for the player to walk away with. Achieving this with a very short length, won't be easy so we are looking for someone who is bold enough to believe they can do it and has the experience to make it work.

Before signing an NDA, here's what we can share about the story so far:

The world is a stylised, man-made and delightful planet with an unusual shape.
There's only 2 key characters (a grandfather and granddaughter) Support characters are a possibility, if you think they are necessary.
We have a draft plot and draft characters, but we aren't narrative experts and are open to changes where necessary.
We'd like to demonstrate the treating of an enemy with dignity to overcome differences, for mutual benefit.
The story will be for a VR title and it must be told with minimum dialog with each act completed in one take. (We can't cut the camera away to different scene within the same act.)

Bonus Criteria

Proven success as a creative writer
Interest in virtual reality. (experience not required)
Interest in classic 3D platformers like Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank
